Gcina Indlu is a domestic staff management app developed and operated by Between Rides ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Name
Employers enter their name and their workers' names. Names are stored on our servers and shared between an employer and their linked workers so each party knows who they are connected to.

Precise location
The worker app collects GPS location on the worker's device solely to detect when the worker arrives at or leaves the employer's home (geofencing). GPS coordinates are processed in-memory on the device only and are never transmitted to our servers or shared with any other party. Only the resulting arrival and departure timestamps are stored.

Photos
Employers and workers may upload photos of household products (e.g. cleaning supplies). These photos are stored on our servers and are visible to both the employer and their linked workers. Photo upload is optional — the app functions fully without it.

App activity
We collect records of work activity including task completions, daily clock-in/out times, extra tasks, notes, and shopping reports. This information is synced to our servers and shared between the employer and their linked workers so both parties have a shared record of work performed.

Device permissions
The app requests access to your camera (for barcode scanning and photos), photo library (for selecting product images), and location (for automatic clock-in/out). You may deny these permissions; some features will not be available if you do.

3. How we use your information

All data collected is used solely to provide Gcina Indlu's core functionality:

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the app's core function.

4. How we store your information

Your data is stored on servers hosted by Railway (railway.app), located in the United States. Railway's infrastructure meets industry-standard security requirements. Data is transmitted over HTTPS at all times.

A copy of your data is also stored locally on your device, so the app works without an internet connection.

5. How long we keep your information

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Worker records, daily logs, and task history are kept so that both employer and worker have access to historical records.

Deleting your account: Employer accounts can be deleted directly from within the app under Settings → Delete account. This permanently and immediately removes your household, all linked workers, tasks, attendance history, and associated data from our servers. This action cannot be undone. If you are unable to access the app, you may also request deletion by contacting us at the address below.
